the moon, stars and the sky
I've always had a fascination with a sky. It's incredibly beautiful to watch; a symphony of passing colors, subtle shifts and endless possibilities. The sky is as vast as the Earth itself, perhaps even more. It is the pinnacle of dreams and the height of freedom. The sky is boundless and its beauty is therein so.
When I was younger, about ten, my aunt gave me a telescope for my birthday. It was wonderful; a golden-bronze contraption inside a velvet bag. I was enamored with it and spent many nights in the balcony trying to glimpse the stars and the heavenly spheres above. The blackened veil often disguised them but I was relentless–the possibility of seeing; the chance, outweighed all.
The stars represented much. They were heaven's messengers and the playful spirits from above. They twinkled mischievously and shone without restraint. The stars are the metaphor for freedom; they are not restricted by laws and live an shining, careless existence. The sky's carefree children–so distant and unrestrained in the black canvas above.
However I feel the true gem of the sky, not the glorious sun, but the serene moon. The goddess both peaceful and timelessly elegant. The lore surrounding the moon is both interesting and inspirational; the mother of wolves, the virginal maiden, the goddess Artemis. However the essence of the moon magnifies the stories murmured about her–the soft silvery beauty she exudes and her classic spirit. The moon is soothing yet illuminating–a source of tranquility and intelligence.
I guess the sheer vastness of the sky attracts me towards it. The moon, the stars and the sun exude an energy that draws in me, embraces me and soothes me. The sky is the mother of artists but more importantly, the mother of inspiration.
